CASINO NEW BRUNSWICK

In 2007, New Brunswick's Minister of Finance announced that the Province would adopt a new policy for the responsible delivery of gaming activities in New Brunswick, setting the direction and framework for all forms of gaming. The responsible gaming policy resulted in several changes to gaming within New Brunswick, including the desire for a single casino within a larger complex containing complementary entertainment and/or hospitality uses as well as a reduction in the number of video lottery terminals and VLT sites.

The Government of New Brunswick determined that the private sector would be the delivery vehicle for the destination casino. HLT was engaged by the New Brunswick Lotteries and Gaming Corporation to provide expert advice in the procurement process including establishing the business case for the casino, estimating top-line revenues, preparing RFP documentation, coordinating the evaluation process and negotiating the service provider agreement with the successful proponent. HLT worked in conjunction with the Infrastructure Advisory practice of KPMG to complete this process.

Casino New Brunswick, a $90 million casino/hotel/entertainment centre officially opened on June 22, 2010.
