Managing Director
Matthew is a managing director at HLT Advisory and leads HLT’s convention centre practice area. Matthew annually benchmarks convention centre performance in Canada (20+Convention Centres of Canada members) and internationally (50+ international AIPC members) assessing centre operations against comparable centres nationally and around the world. He frequently speaks at industry events and individual centre board/executive meetings sharing his insight on industry trends.
Matthew has completed numerous convention centre assignments for Canadian and international convention centres including involvement in development planning, expansion planning, operational reviews, and market assessments. Matthew has the ability to combine quantitative and qualitative factors when assessing operations and the market demand for convention facilities, utilizing HLT’s industry leading database and over 10 years of experience to best position clients for success.
In the gaming industry, Matthew has completed projects in in numerous Canadian and US markets as well as some international jurisdictions. Notable projects include the evaluation of proposals for full-service casinos in Kansas, Massachusetts and Ontario, financial modelling for private and public sector clients, as well as completing provincial market assessments in British Columbia, Alberta, and Quebec.
Matthew joined HLT in January 2010. A graduate of The Goodman School of Business at Brock University, Matthew holds an Honours Bachelor of Business Administration degree as well as a Masters of Business Administration.
