The Canadian gaming industry offers one of the most comprehensive product offerings in the world (casinos, racincos, VLT, lottery, pari-mutuel, charitable gaming, online, etc.). The industry generates over $16 billion dollars in total revenues. Responsibility for gaming policy development rests with provincial governments, resulting in different product, delivery, compensation and revenue levels in each jurisdiction from coast to coast.
Initially in 2008, and again in 2011, the Canadian Gaming Association (“CGA”) engaged HLT to complete a comprehensive assessment of economic impact of the total Gaming Industry. The assessment was undertaken on a national basis with detailed breakouts at the provincial level. The analysis required an intimate understanding of the operation of all different types of gaming activities and the regulatory/governance structure of each provincial gaming industry.
